Gustaf Aulén

Gustaf Aulén (1879–1977), Swedish Lutheran theologian and bishop of Strängnäs. His book Christus Victor (English translation 1931) argued that the early church saw the atonement as Christ’s victory over evil, and gave Christus Victor its name.
