John Stott

John Stott (1921–2011), English Anglican clergyman, long associated with All Souls Church, Langham Place, in London, and one of the most influential Evangelical leaders of the twentieth century.

His books include Basic Christianity (1958) and The Cross of Christ (1986). He chaired the committee that drafted the Lausanne Covenant at the Lausanne Congress of 1974, which joined evangelism with social responsibility. In Evangelical Essentials (1988), a dialogue with David Edwards, he tentatively endorsed Annihilationism, which opened a wider evangelical debate about Hell.
