What Christians expect at the end of history: the return of Christ, the resurrection of the dead, the final judgement, and the meaning of the thousand-year reign in Revelation 20.

The positions here differ mainly on that “millennium”. Is it a present, symbolic age, a future earthly reign after Christ returns, or a golden age before he returns? Augustine’s symbolic reading shaped most of the historic churches. Belief in a future earthly reign, held by some early writers, revived strongly in the 19th century through John Nelson Darby and others. All three views share belief in Christ’s personal return.
