Wealth and Blessing

Whether God promises material wealth and physical health to believers who have faith, and how Christians should think about money and possessions.

Christian teaching has long treated wealth with caution, stressing generosity, contentment and care for the poor, while also seeing provision as a gift from God. In the twentieth century the Prosperity Gospel taught that faith, spoken confession and giving open the way to financial and physical blessing. It spread through Pentecostal and Charismatic networks across the world and drew sustained criticism from other Christians, including many within those same movements.
